Previous Story Peanut Allergies While other little girls pack crayons and pencils for school, 5 year-old Elizabeth Marcus packs an Epi-pen. Elizabeth-has peanut allergies-"It's to save my life." She has a severe peanut allergy and any contact to... Elizabeth-"Peanuts, peanut butter, and peanut oil." Could be fatal. Her parents found out when she was eight months old when Elizabeth ate a peanut butter cookie. Bryan Marcus-DAD-"Her face swelled and we didn't know what was wrong." The Marcus family maintains a peanut-free home. Nobody who's even eaten peanuts can come home with Elizabeth. Her food allergy took all joy out of her first day of school. Mom and dad-"It was a nightmare, now it's out of our hands." Peanut allergies are the most common food allergy. Symptoms include wheezing, difficulty breathing, vomiting and unconsciousness. In the U.S. 40 people form this condition every year. Dr. Kim-"It can be deadly." School can be a dangerous place for students with food allergies. In a newsletter administrators declared elizabeth's class a peanut free class.
